The Kuala Lumpur City Gallery in Malaysia houses some of the country’s best wood carving artists. During workdays in the museum, they create miniature wooden figures of KL buildings like the Petronas Tower and KL Tower. But for anyone who wants to fill that blank space on his wall with something besides a painting, they create wooden veneers that, when combined, sport a 3D effect. The artists make patterns that range from traditional Malaysian houses to animals such as camels and birds.
I enjoyed this veneer of a turtle, swimming on top of a seaweed with a monkey’s face. Don’t we just love how random art can be?
